Five years ago, whilst my husband travelled internationally with work, I was taking a career break from teaching to be available to my young children. It was during this time that I had plenty of opportunity to analyse my emotional experience.
I was struggling to understand why I was so affected by unhelpful emotions. I had lots to be positive about and grateful for but was still experiencing the daily weight and drain of challenging feelings.
It was at this time that I also began to recognise similar emotional challenges being encountered by many of my professional friends.
I began to question how to find possible solutions and the solutions I found changed my life forever. I have a very analytical brain, which has sometimes been a curse (!) but it was about to provide me with fantastic fuel for self-growth and development.
I realised that I was emotionally challenged because I hadn't yet established feelings currently absent – value, confidence, adequacy, resiliency, capability to name just a few!
So, returning to my graduate skills, I set about research that led me to understanding psychological principles and everyday applications for Cognitive Behavioural and Compassion Based Therapy.
As I began to apply this new learning, I had the lightbulb moment of realising that I could TEACH my brain to GIVE me these feelings!
I now get to enjoy my emotional transformation everyday, knowing that I will never return to feeling emotionally limited or stuck like before. That’s the great thing about emotional skills…once you learn them, they’re yours to keep.
I still look the same on the outside but I’m now utterly transformed (for the better!) on the inside. Emotional skills have changed my life forever. As a coach, I don’t teach anything that I haven't mastered myself first, with a huge amount of personal time and dedication.
Having transformed my own emotional experience, I now provide highly effective, clear coaching pathways for professionals and businesses that fuel their growth and success.
It’s so incredible to see the professionals I support realising their true emotional potential. That’s why I love my job and find it such a privilege to support others. Seeing them have that same lightbulb moment, the moment when they realise that sustained, inner emotional growth is possible for THEM is amazing.
My teaching background involved safeguarding responsibilities and I have transferred the principles of responsibility, accountability, trust and confidentiality to my coaching practice. I keep to the British Psychological Society code of conduct and ethics whose fundamental principles include confidentially, respect and responsibility to the client.
When considering coaching with me, it would be very normal and understandable brain behaviour for you to feel doubt or anxiety.
Brain's don’t like the unknown, the possibility of being uncomfortable or vulnerable and they like to doubt your capability to change. My very strong advice, is don’t let those feelings stop you from continuing to explore what’s emotionally possible for you.
Let me support you to lean into and past those natural hurdles to access the massive emotional opportunities waiting for you on the other side.
You are truly capable of experiencing easier, simpler, more positive emotions. We can navigate this and so much more together.
